Renowned academician and public policy expert, Prof Chris Nwokeji has recently made known his intention to represent Orlu/Orsu/Oru East Federal Constituency in 2019 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Declaring his interest before his audience which include party officers, stakeholders and members in a well attended ceremony held at Akuma in Oru East Local Government Area, he said he would introduce new innovations in political representation whereby he would carry along the people all through his tenure while ensuring that what are due to the people get to them without ado.
According the Akuma-born prince, he would liaise with like-minded colleagues in the lower chamber to propose and ardently pursue the passage of bills that would seek the good and welfare of the people. And as a public policy expert, he said he was sure to make a difference if elected. He further said, that the central focus of the law and governance generally ought to be the good interest of the people insisting, his utmost concern would be the people, to make sure constituency projects were those which would impact on the lives of the people.
He assured party leadership, stakeholders and members that he would always carry them along in all he would do, as their representative during his tenure. Nwokeji emphasized that the central purpose of seeking political positions should be service rather than quest for mindless selfish acquisition, as counseled that leaders should seek to serve instead of seeking to be served.
In their different speeches, the local government party chairmen of Orlu, Orsu and Oru East local governments extolled Prof Nwokeji’s sterling qualities saying, they hoped his intellectual height, experience and exposure would constitute a great resource to the constituency especially and the National Assembly. They all assured him of their supports.
Rt. Hon. Chief Eugene Okorie, PDP chairman, Orlu Local Government opined that he doubted if there would be any other more qualified for the position than Prof Nwokeji considering his credentials. His Oru East counterpart, Comrade Anayo Nwajiezi in an unequivocal tone assured the aspirant of his total support as he recalled how he (Nwokeji) has been sponsoring the party and ensured that they were not pushed aside by opposing forces and elements while his the Orsu Local Government Area party chairman, Mr. Sunday Ejenibe assured of his full support.
Speaking also, stakeholders in one voice validated the general opinion that the aspirant was roundly qualified for the position he sought, considering his impeccable credentials and pedigree.
In a brief interview, the Director General of Prof Nwokeji’s campaign team, Prince Regi Nwokeji expressed firm hope that the aspirant will be successful at both party primary and the main election.
The event which was full of glamour was attended by many party faithful and stakeholders, including Prof Mark Onyenekwu, Barr. Benneth Amukamara, Chief Odis Obioha, Chief Kevin Maduike, party chieftains and a host of others.
