Baring last minute changes, over 100 aides, Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants, SSAs, may get their portfolios in days to come.
Governor Uzodinma had come under severe criticisms for not assigning portfolios to his aides after he inaugurated them alongside with his Commissioners whom he assigned portfolios on the day of inauguration.
Only few of Uzodinma’s aides on Security, Sanitation, Political have portfolios and defined designations.
A watchdog group in the State, the Imo Awareness Coalition, IAC, had called on the Governor to assign portfolios to his aides.
“Of what value are they, if they are not engaged or assigned portfolios? They should be engaged immediately and tasked to hit the ground running.That will send clear signals that the government means business” the IAC had said in statement endorsed by Fidelis Echendu, Publicity Secretary
However, a source who spoke on condition of anonymity said ” Soon, the Governor will assign portfolios to his SAs, SSAs in a matter of days.
“The delay was not deliberate. Just watch out for the announcement”
