Governorship aspirants on the platform of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA from Imo State yesterday at the party’s Book Launch and Retreat in Awka, Anambra State engaged in rat race to outpace each other as they made huge donations that ran into millions of naria at the event.
Apart from a handful of aspirants and stakeholders from Anambra State that made donations, governorship aspirants from Imo State stole the show.
Top among the donors was new entrant, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume who confirmed his defection to APGA from the APC with a donation of N10 million naira. Former Imo State Governor, Ikedi Ohakim gave out N2.2 million naria.
Others are Okey Ezeh- N 2M, Stanley Amuchie N3m, Frank Nneji N2m, George Irechukwu N2.5 million naria, Sam Amadi N1.5 million, Hon. Uche Onyeagocha and Barr Steve Nwoga doled out N1m respectively.
Two senatorial aspirants, Chief Jerry Chukwueke and Mike Nwachukwu donated N1 Million naria each
The donations by the aspirants from Imo State signpost their readiness for the party primaries coming up at the end of the month.
Primaries in major political parties had been influenced by the power of money which is largely used to sway the delegates.
APGA in Imo State has been revved back to life and is now a potent political force ahead of the elections.
