More Imo Assembly Members Defect To APC, Lawmakers Kick Against Anti Uzodinma Protests In Owerri

The All Progressive Congress, APC in Imo State, now has overwhelming majority in the State House of Assembly with a of 22 members

The Peoples Democratic Party PDP has now shrunk to 5 members

During plenary on Thursday, three more members joined the APC.

They are Mrs Uju Onwudiwe (Njaba) who defected from the Action Alliance, AA, Paschal Okoli (Orlu) and Samuel Otuibe (Ahiazu Mbaise) who joined the APC from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Announcing the defection at the floor of the House, the Speaker, Rt Hon.Chiji Collins said the defecting members did so after consulting with their constituents and realized the need to join the APC to aid Governor Hope Uzodinma in achieving his plans for Imo people.

Also during plenary, the lawmakers kicked against incessant protests in the State by the PDP and hailed the Supreme Court for the judgement that removed Emeka Ihedioha as Governor and enthoned Senator Hope Uzodinma as duly elected Govenor of the State.

In a motion sponsored by Hon.Kennedy Ibe, he called for the sanction of INEC REC in the State for declaring Emeka Ihedioha as winner of the governorship election in the State when he did not meet the requirements to be declared so.
