As the construction of Owerri- Mbaise- Umuahia Road in Imo State continues, a group, Federation Of Mbaise Media Professionals (FMMP), has strongly defended the role of a group, Ezurezu Mbaise, over the construction of the road project.
In a statement signed by Comrade Eze Adiuku, President, Federation Of Mbaise Media Professionals, FMMP, the group noted that Ezurezu Mbaise has been supportive of the project, recalling that in November 2023, the organization had thanked the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma for awarding the contract for the reconstruction of the road.
It further recalled that in September, the group also visited the project office of the contractor, handling the road project and demanded to ascertain why work was not moving at a fast or impressive pace and even threatened to report them to the Governor.
According to FMMP, the contractor disclosed that it was due to rain, and promised to increase their pace as soon as the rain subside.
“True to the promise, since the rains stopped, work has commenced in earnest on the road” part of the statement read.
It further stated that the Ezurezu Mbaise has forwarded a letter to meet with Governor Uzodimma in order to discuss and remind him of his assurance to award the road that runs across five local governments, stretching from Okpuala to Aba Branch.
According to the statement, the group said information reaching it indicates that neither Ezurezu Mbaise nor it’s President General, Sir Surv. Joe Anosikeh, engaged in any online or physical meeting with any organization to discuss the issue of the ongoing Owerri- Mbaise- Umuahia Road Project.
FMMP further added that it will be embarrassing to drag Ezurezu Mbaise into a non existent brick bat, stressing that it’s President General, Sir Surv. Joe Anosikeh is politically non aligned.
It explained that this is the reason why the entire Mbaise nation reposed their confidence in him to lead their apex organization as it’s President General
