Enormous joy was recorded on Saturday in Owerri as St. Joseph Hospital graduated 32 students from its Nursing Training Programme.
The feat marked another significant milestone in the institution’s steady rise as a centre of excellence in nursing and medical care.
The graduation ceremony, held at the hospital’s premises, attracted dignitaries from the health sector, members of the hospital board and management, parents, guardians, tutors, instructors, and friends of the institution.
In his keynote address, the Chief Medical Director of the institution, Dr. Nnaemeka Onwudiwe, congratulated the graduands for successfully completing what he described as a demanding and noble programme.
He commended their resilience, discipline, and perseverance throughout their academic and clinical training, noting that their achievement was an honour for both the students and the hospital.
Onwudiwe described nursing not just as a profession but as a calling that requires compassion, integrity, patience, competence, and a deep sense of humanity.
Reminding the graduands that nurses are often the first point of contact for patients and their families, Onwudiwe urged them to allow empathy, professionalism, and ethical conduct to guide their practice at all times.
The MD reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to excellence in healthcare delivery and human capacity development, hinting that the nursing programme was established to produce well-trained, disciplined, and morally sound professionals capable of competing favourably anywhere in the world.
He stressed that the successful graduation of the students further validated the hospital’s vision and mission, even as he expressed appreciation to the tutors, instructors, and clinical supervisors for their dedication and sacrifices in shaping the graduands, attributing the success recorded to their invaluable roles.
